MOTHER CHARGED AFTER TEEN RIDES IN BOX ATOP HER VAN

“ALBERTVILLE | An Alabama woman has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child after police say she let her daughter ride in a cardboard box on top of their van.

daughter, 13, wasn’t harmed and was turned over to a relative. A jail worker said the mother was out on bond Monday.

Albertville Police spokesman Sgt. Jamie Smith said the 37-year-old woman was arrested Sunday after police received a call about a minivan on a state highway with a child riding on top.

Smith said the woman told police the box was too big to go inside the van, and that her daughter was inside the box to hold it down.

Smith said the mother told officers it was safe because she had the box secured to the van with a clothes hanger.”

Well what the hell is she supposed to do?  Let the 13 year old daughter ride shotgun and risk having the cardboard box fly off the roof and tumble down the Alabama highway?  I don’t think so.    I gotta give her credit actually, us guys usually will just throw the “arm of justice” out the window to secure things.   But not this careful planner.  She went the extra step and anchored the box with a clothes hanger.  I guarantee her pain in the ass daughter was all over her about riding in the box.  “Mommy can I please ride on top of the van inside the box on the highway, Mommy can I please ride on top of the van inside the box on the highway?”  Like any good mother, she caved like a house of cards.

I was skeptical at first.  I mean what on earth are you going to do with a cardboard box that you can’t even fit inside of your caravan?  Then it hit me.  It’s obviously the new addition on their house.
